Mucsi is a documentary film by filmmaker Nina Gänsler that tells the story of the displacement of several Hungarian families from a town called Mucsi (Mutsching) and their relocation in the Rheingau area, Germany.
For Gänsler's film, five Motion Collages were animated, resembling a custom-made look from old imagery collected from regional archives. The collages act as portals that give a glance to the content of each of the chapters.
This documentary film aimed to reconnect filmmaker Gänsler with her roots by resurrecting an imaginary of her own childhood. The chalk, the old paper, the typewriter, the maps are among the elements that shaped her story.
